Zvizdić - Bokova: Important Linkage of Cultural-Historic Heritage, Economy and Tourism

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for all this organisation has done in BIH, especially in the period of last year’s floods when many monuments were threatened by the natural disaster aftermaths.
Talking of development of cultural heritage, they concluded that it is important to integrate the heritage into the daily life, so that the cultural heritage would participate in lives of people as a part of comprehensive cultural tradition.
Chairman Zvizdić expressed his pleasure with cooperation with the UNESCO Office in BIH, stressing that the importance of their project activities relevant to BIH. He said that it is very important to have medieval tomb stones (stećci) placed on the UNESCO list, so that they would be protected, and also in order to preserve joint history of the peoples living in these areas.
They agreed that it is important to have a high quality conjunction of cultural-historic heritage, economy and tourism.
Chairman Zvizdić informed the visitors of the fact that Bosnia and Herzegovina has 2,300 natural monuments, five natural parks, of which two registered as protected areas, and 900 monuments waiting to be protected.
They discussed the National Museum, and agreed that it is necessary for this important institution to be opened for citizens as early as possible.
The meeting was attended by BIH Ambassador with UNESCO Iva Orilić.
