Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić talked today in Sofia with Prime Minister of the Republic of Bulgaria Boyko Borissov o acceleration of the Euro-Atlantic integrations of our country and on regional cooperation. 

Chairman Zvizdić briefed Prime Minister Borissov of the current political developments in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He reiterated the commitment of the Council of Ministers of BIH to the European road of Bosnia and Herzegovina, saying that following successful completion of answers to the EC Questionnaire, BIH tries to use as much as possible the existing positive momentum, with a view at acceleration of the integration processes, while doing preparations, at the same time, for the so-called evaluative missions by the European Commission, as well as for the second cycle of additional questions.

Chairman Zvizdić welcomed decision by Bulgaria to choose the Western Balkans as one of the priorities of tis chairmanship. He said such position created a new positive dynamics within the EU in relations to the issue. He said that Bulgaria has always played key and friendly role in decisive moments in history of our homeland, starting from the first international recognition to continued support to the European and NATO integrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Prime Minister Borissov repeated undisputable support to the European and NATO integrations of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He emphasised that Bulgaria will continuously keep the issue of the Western Balkans integrations at the EU agenda, adding that the integrations are the only road to peace, stability and prosperity of the region.

They also discussed the improvement of region’s transport infrastructure, underlining that it is the key factor for linking of the region, acceleration of economic development, and European integrations of the Western Balkans. Modalities of a direct air flight connection of Balkan capitals by way of joining regional air-flight operators, which would enhance the follow of people and merchandise within the region. A mutual interest for promotion of economic and trade relations was noted.

Views were exchanged on security issues in the region, and Prime Ministers stressed cooperation, peace and stability as the main guidelines of their governments’ polices within regional processes and initiatives, and agreed that it is the only road that contributes to general prosperity and economic betterment.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Security of BIH Dragan Mektić, Minister of Justice of BIH Josip Grubeša, Minister of Communications and Transport of BIH Ismir Jusko, and Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the republic of Bulgaria Radomir Bogdanović.
