Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH dr. Denis Zvizdić received in Sarajevo Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia in BHI Istok Grmek, who congratulated to Chairman Zvizdić his appointment and handed over a written congratulation note from Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia dr. Miro Cerar. 

Thanking for the congratulation messages, Chairman Zvizdić used the opportunity to thank for the overall Slovenian assistance to Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the one extended during last year’s floods. He emphasised that he expects Slovenian support concerning the Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Bosnia and Herzegovina though transfer of experiences and implementation of EU acquis, in addition to the Republic of Slovenia’s a friendly voice for BIH with the EU and NATO.

Ambassador Grmek said it is an excellent momentum for acceleration of the EU and NATO integrations of BIH and that in related processes Bosnia and Herzegovina may count to Slovenia’s assistance. He stressed that the SAA should be activated as soon as possible in order to open new windows of cooperation, in addition to new EU Funds for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The meeting expressed a pleasure with overall bilateral cooperation between the two countries, and noted good friendly relations with economic exchange reaching over EUR one billion a year and mutually satisfactory coverage of import by export.  Simultaneously, the republic of Slovenia invested over EUR 600 million in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where Slovenian firms employ over 15.000 workers.

Chairman Zvizdić underlined that institutional cooperation requires additional improvement in order to continue a positive trend of economic exchange. He said that Bosnia and Herzegovina is interested to extend cooperation to the areas of culture and education, especially institutional education, targeting high quality preparation of BIH for the EU integrations.
