Zvizdić – Grasso: Our Focus to Economy, Youth Employment and European Integrations

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Denis Zvizdić talked in Sarajevo today with President of the Senate of the Republic of Italy Pietro Grasso, who pays an official visit to our country. 

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for assistance Italy has been extending to Bosnia and Herzegovina to date, saying that Italy is a true friend of BIH, which stayed by our side in the most difficult moments.

The interlocutors expressed their pleasure with yesterday0s decision of the EU Council of Ministers of EU to activate the SAA for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairman Zvizdić said BIH will urgently set-up work groups for the SAA implementation in order to meet requirements of the structural adjustment even before the prescribed 6-year deadline, as the European integrations are the strategic commitment of Bosnia and Herzegovina with a firmly set goal to get the candidate status within the next four years.

He noted the commitment of Bosnia and Herzegovina to socio-economic reforms, as the first step towards the improvement of business environment in Bosnia and Herzegovina He added that the reform package is the integral part of structural adjustment to the European Union, targeting FDI attraction and job creation for all, so as to improve the living standard of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s citizens.

Chairman Zvizdić that process of signing of bilateral economic cooperation and agriculture agreements, which are in the process of preparation, should be completed as soon as possible, in order to have a legal framework in place for advancement of economic cooperation between the two countries, which is not at a negligible level.

Senate President Grasso supported reform efforts of the Council of Ministers of BIH. He said that Italy supports the European-Atlantic road of Bosnia and Herzegovina and that BIH may always count on Italy’s support. He added that we all deal with the same issue of employment, especially of young people, therefore dedication of the Council of Ministers of BIH to economic issues is encouraging.
