Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić held separate meetings today in Capitol Hill with Congresswomen Ann Wagner and Eddie Bernice Johnson, and with Senator Benjamin I. Cadrin. They discussed bilateral relation and support of the United States of America to the European and NATO road of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Chairman Zvizdić thanked for all the United States of America has done for Bosnia and Herzegovina over the past period of time, saying that the European integrations remain the central foreign policy priority of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He stressed that on internal plan, many reforms take place in order to create a favourable business environment, accelerate economic development and attract investments.

He briefed Congresswomen Wagner and Bernice Johnson and Senator Cardin of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s active participation in all regional projects, which projects contribute to economic growth, along to peace and stability, and added that Bosnia and Herzegovina is the stability factor on the Balkans. He reminded of the importance of respect for rule of law, territorial integrity and reform implementation required for democratisation of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s society and its prosperity.

The American officials pointed at the dedication of the United States of America to keep its presence in BIH, as a strong and committed friend in the reform processes and Euro-Atlantic integration.

Chairman Zvizdić said during the talks that the friendly political relations should be followed-up by an intensive economic cooperation, emphasising that one of important projects is the opening of a direct air line. He said that there about 70,000 US citizens originating from BIH live in St. Luis, which is the reason enough to set-up a direct air line between Sarajevo and St. Luis. The meeting agreed that the line would have not only an economic importance, but it would be rather a message and clear sign of friendship and approximation of BIH and the USA.

Chairman Zvizidć said that BIH is directed to freedom, democracy, economic prosperity, as well as to the Euro-Atlantic integrations, and that it is a confirmation of BIH continuing to be the best Balkan partner to USA.
