Zvizdić – Shannon: US Support to BIH’s Euro-Atlantic Road

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH Dr Denis Zvizdić met in Washington, D.C. with State Department Under-Secretary for Political Affairs Tom Shannon, and informed him of the current political and economic situation in BIH. 

He said that at the very beginning of tis mandate, the Council of Ministers of BIH has defined four key priorities devoted to European integrations, rule of law, regional and international cooperation He stressed that BIH submitted the EU membership application early this year and the answering to the first set of questions in expected soon.

Ambassador Shannon said he appreciates political efforts made by the Council of Ministers of BIH, adding that BIH enjoys US support which will be extended in future as a full assistance towards achieving better results.

Chairman Zvizdić  said the Council of Ministers of BIH intends to start the economy even stronger and thus improve the living standard of BIH citizens. He stressed that it is extremely important for BIH to get MAP activation as early as possible as a serious of prerequisites have been fulfilled over the past period of time, adding that it would dispatch a positive message

For stability in the region and that each move closer toward NATO represents a message for peace.

Ambassador Shannon said the AMP activation is a very important goal for which the BIH will have the US support. He noted that political challenges are in form of BIH, but that a lot has been done to curb-up problems. He stressed that the USA may assist BIH and that the USA welcomes the success Chairman Zvizdić together with the Council of Ministers of BIH members reached over the past period of time.

The meeting was attended by Deputy US Assistant Secretary of Stare Hoyt Yee.
