Zvizdić with Ambassadors of EU Member-Countries in Brussels

Chairman Zvizidć said he is convinced that our work and the progress achieved would be recognised by soon inclusion of the EU membership application of BIH into its agenda. He pointed at the membership as being rightly a driving force to started reforms, with every subsequent breakthrough giving a strong stimulus to the continuation of the reform processes. He said that all in BIH are aware of the commitments and work ahead, so the Questionnaire is not viewed as an award, but rather as an incentive for further acceleration along the Euro-Atlantic road.
He informed Ambassadors that BIH is in the process of adaptation of the Stabilisation and Accession Agreement Croatia had with the EU, which is one of the key conditions for the continuation of the EU integrations. He said that three meetings of negotiating teams have been already held, aiming satisfactory solution finding, and he expressed his optimism that the whole process will be completed in a short time.
The Chairman of the Council of Ministers of BIH said that other than the European integrations, BIH is also focused at its economic reforms, targeting the improvement of the living standard of citizens, and to this added are also efforts concerning the security sector, rule of law and fight against terrorism. As one of the key foreign policy priorities, Chairman Zvizdić singled out the activation of the Action Plan for NATO membership (MAP).
“All these issues are unavoidable if a stable, sustainable and prosperous Bosnia and Herzegovina is wanted to be created. Aware of the challenges ahead, we remain persistent in taking efforts so as to see a concrete progress in all these areas mentioned”, Chairman Zvizdić said to the assembled Ambassadors of the EU member-countries in Brussels.
The meeting with Ambassadors of the EU member-countries in the EU, at which Chairman Zvizdić also answered to Ambassadors’ questions, was moderated by Head fo BIH Mission in the EU ambassador Lidija Topić.
The COOPER II (Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States wo the European Union) is the main body of the Council of European Union, and in that sense it has a key role in opinions and conclusions formulation of the Council, which is competent for consideration of the BIH application for the EU membership and requesting the European Commission to develop and provide the Questionnaire.
