Chairman of Council of Ministers of B-H Receives World Bank Delegation

Chairman of the Council of Ministers of B-H dr Nikola Špirić and his deputy Minister of Finance and Treasury of B-H Dragan Vrankić talked in Sarajevo today with the World Bank delegation, headed by Director for SEE Jane Armitage, on Bank’s new strategy for B-H in 2010-2015. 

The meeting underlined that the aim of this new strategy is to provide support to a strong, inclusive and sustainable economic growth though EU accession-focused interventions.

Chairman Špirić singled out that priorities identified in the regional strategy, such as competitiveness, special inclusion and climate changes, are the same priorities identified by B-H. In that context, he underlined the importance of these projects aimed at fostering of competitiveness of B-H economy, social sector reforms and activities towards effectiveness of use of natural resources.

The meeting was attended by the current Head of the World Bank Mission in B-H Marco Matovanelli and newly-appointed Head the World Bank Mission in B-H Anabela Abreu.

Chairman Špirić welcomed the new World Bank Manager for B-H, expressing his hope that the successful cooperation with the World Bank will be continued.

Chairman Špirić thanked to Matovanelli for a very successful cooperation, wishing him success in his future work.

On this occasion, Minsiter Vrankić and Matovanelli signed a Grant Agreement of the Swedish Trust Fund (Water Quality Protection Project: Water Supply and Sanitation in Mostar) between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development, as the administrator of the Swedish Trust Fund.

The grant, worth USD 3,455,747 was provided by the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA). The funds will be utilised for improvement of water quality from Neretva river, through joining to the central waste waters collection system of waste waters from central Mostar valley and their transport to water purification facilities.
