Chairman of Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina dr. Nikola Špirić talked in Sarajevo with Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban.Following the meeting, Chairman Špirić and Prime Minister Orban addressed to the media. 

“I’ve had a chance to inform Prime Minister Orban on both internal and external priorities and tasks of Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is a joint assessment that we are two especially friendly countries and that there is no outstanding issues to prevent a successful cooperation to continue in the interest of both countries’ citizens. This was an opportunity to for me to thank to the Prime Minister for the assistance Hungary was extending during the post-war recovery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, including a series of seminars our civil servants attended in Hungary, and the ‘Partnership for Peace ’ Programme, which gathered members of our Armed Forces”, said Chairman Špirić in his address to the press.

Chairman Špirić said that Hungary is one among countries with which we have a considerable economic cooperation, and which takes 21st place among investors to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Chairman of the Council of Ministers stressed that upon a decision of the Hungarian Government, Bosnia and Herzegovina has become a honorary neighbour of Hungary, and in that very spirit today’s talks dealt with numerous bilateral treaties to be concluded for cooperation to become as concrete as possible for the benefit of citizens of both countries, such are the Agreement on Protection of Classified Data, Agreement on Double Taxation Avoidance, Agreement on Agriculture, Agreement on SMEs Cooperation and other numerous agreements. He also thanked to Prime Minister Orban for Hungary’s support to Bosnia and Herzegovina on its way towards the European Integrations.

In his address to the media, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban stressed the importance of as early as possible integration of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Western Balkans to the European Union.

Prime Minister Orban underlined historic connections between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary, and said that Hungary understands well the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region, adding that: “Our understanding is that Bosnia and Herzegovina is a single state. A single state can be recognised if it stands on its own feet. We regard Bosnia and Herzegovina as being capable of standing on its own feet and capable politically to manage its own destiny; it is capable of developing and managing its economy, and it is capable of developing a plan of its European Integrations process through negotiations with the European Union”.

Prime Minister Orban reiterated an unreserved support of Hungary to the European road Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region are taking.
